NPR HELPS ISRAEL LAY THE TERRORIST LABEL ON CRITICS OF ISRAEL AND HUMANITARIANS

The NPR story begins referring to  an "international controversy" about the Israeli raid on the Freedom Flotilla last Monday.    You see, there is no controversy here in the United States, we all support the  raid?  That is the consensus that NPR and significant sectors of our society want to maintain: blind, uncritical support and bankrolling for the very aggressive state of Israel.  In fact, Israel occupies Syrian land and has a history of invading Lebanon, bombing Iraq and even the USS Liberty.
So what is NPR's big news story from the recent efforts to break the siege of Gaza?  NPR concludes that a "spotlight" must be shone on IHH, a humanitarian organization that we are going to be made very paranoid about.    Funny, that is the same campaign IDF and Israel are doing!  Coincidence maybe?
The participants from scores of other groups are completely ignored.   Freedom flotilla participants come from forty nations but NPR takes on Israel's campaign against Turkey.  NPR doesn't quite demonize Turkey but that sees to be the direction in which Israel is headed.
Hamas is already wearing the American/Israeli made label of "terrorist".  It is interesting, is that all we do in the US now, sell fraudulent investments and label anyone we disagree  a terrorist, THEN RUN LIKE HELL FROM THE FACTS?  A lot of this Morning Edition story embraces this labeling of Hamas a terrorist without any examination or thought.  Why are they labeled terrorists and why are we always ill informed about the views of these so-called terrorists?  In this case eight unarmed civilians were each shot in the head four times each, yet their corpses are labeled "terrorist corpses" while the IDF killers magically become the victims.
It seems that the label "terrorist" allows powerful interests to spread self-serving lies and disinformation while shutting off reliable and accurate information.  This is just the opposite of what a journalistic enterprise should be doing.
Well, NPR did its best to make us suspicious about IHH and the evil humanitarians trying to harm Israel by breaking the siege of Gaza.  They are good for that!
Does NPR support the siege of Gaza?  Why is there no "spotlight" on the UN resolution to end the siege of Gaza?  Why no "spotlight" on the property stolen from hundreds of Freedom Flotilla passengers, why no "spotlight" on the ships confiscated.  Why no "spotlight" on the issue of Israeli piracy versus Somali piracy.  Why no  compassion for the 1.6 million people of Gaza?   The siege and sovereignty of the Palestinians are always ignored.  Why don't you send reporters there you. ass sitters?
Why no spotlight on the seizure of the ship Rachel Corrie?  There was a Nobel price winner on board and Dennis Halliday on that ship!  That is amazing!  Former Iraq weapons inspector Dennis Halliday used to be allowed on NPR but now he doesn't uncritically support Israeli behavior and American invasions.  I guess you don't let people like that on your show  let alone cover them, no "spotlight" for reality.  NPR,  THE ZIONIST SPOTLIGHT.

Why no "spotlight" on the 60 journalists who were treated like crap and had their materials confiscated by the IDF so they could not report?  Why no focus on the sophisticated hit list booklet seen by passengers in the Freedom Flotilla?  Can there be any question that NPR is a bastion of the Zionist consensus in American ruling circles?  NPR has always been a mechanism for the distribution of ruling class ideas and since the fifties our ruling class has become a largely Zionist one.  Then there could have been a spotlight on the special munition removed from one victim of the IDF, unseen before by Turkish forensics, a special bullet concocted by whom?
At the end of the day NPR's "spotlight" is often directed by Zionist ideology, not the facts, not by newsworthiness and not by journalistic excellence.

ISRAELI PIRACY OK, SOMALI PIRACY BAD NPR

After reporting the Israeli version of the killings by the IDF all day NPR did allow a good story by a woman and German official with diplomatic immunity.  She was not arrested as most of the humanitarian passengers and crew were by IDF, taken hostage on the high sea.   Which would be a problem if only a Somali youth had taken them hostage.  Ho hum.  Israel good like America.  Somalis bad like the Goyim.

Yet her personal witness of three shot dead on a lower deck was quickly diluted with a repetition of IDF talking points.  Ain't it great to be an Israeli-American!  Soon NPR has implanted the expectation that the United States expects an Israeli investigation of the massacre!  This is ludicrous beyond words.  What a joke and the BS about "at least some international input" is pure crap.  Israel is the defendant.  You don't ask the defendant to act as investigator or prosecutor.  Or you do if you are
NPR and the Obama adminstration, trying to keep a low profile in a world of woe.

NPRS DEFENSE OF AMERICAN ZIONISM

After the massacre of humanitarian activists NPR is defending Israel and American Zionist ideas.  The Zionist hosts and staff have no problem emphasizing the aggression of those humanitarian workers while helping us ignore as much as possible the slaughter of those who had no real weapons.
There is something of a critique of Israel but it is basically a defense of Israel even more than we might see in many Israeli publications.  These guys know all the Israeli talking points and the emphasis is, as usual, the terrible threat to Israel, from a humanitarian shipment.
Neil Conan just said that the shipment was a great success for the organizers.  He says that except for the deaths it was a success.  Not really Neil, the shipment and hundreds are being held hostage by your other nation of citizenship?
All the guests and commentators are Zionist.  All of them.
Of course if these were Somali pirates we would have a different discussion, a big anti terrorism and anti Islamic campaign.  But Israel did it so it is ok.
This is an act of war by Israel and NPR doesn't care, doesn't condemn it and tries to blame the humanitarian victims slaughtered by the guys that NPR think of as brethren and fellow ISRAELIS.  Where is Chomsky?  Oh I forgot, Israel and NPR have banned him!  Their views must not even exist!  NPR.  National Propaganda Radio with a Zionist cadre to lead us forward.
NPR commentators talk about this massacre as if it were the Israeli soldiers who were killed.  Play the victim for us, what about the holocaust, you know, when Germans did to your ancestors what your are doing to Palestinians and anyone who dares struggle against your ridiculous racist and fanatical religious delusions.
Aaron David Miller and Neil tried to make the Israeli massacre go away and they are done.  Occasionally they said everything was too complicated to understand.  Only experts, and Zionist experts at that, can really understand much of anything it seems.

IRA PLAY DOUGH POINTS TO QUICK SOLUTION FOR GULF WELL LEAK

For some reason I have been distracted from the ongoing catastrophe in the Gulf so I have been frustrated that BP has refused to stop the oil leak with a little explosion to destroy the oil pipe's access to the surface.  Today. I am pleased to see that a guest on Ira Flatow's Science Friday suggests crimping the leaking oil pipe with explosives, duhhhhh!   I agree that explosive charges could stop this leak rather quickly and that this could be achieved within a few days.

This "no brainer" and obvious solution is not being pursued because it would cost BP and its stockholders, something Ira Playdough doesn't discuss.

So Ira gets an A for seeing the obvious solution but he gets an F for not insisting on this environmentally friendly solution.  He also gets an F for not seeing that politics and economics control the technology and science used for this situation.  Ira Flatow has mainly, however, hosted a discussion about how technology can stop the oil by saving the BP investment, by saving the pipes they have installed.

Just think about it.  The United States blows up everything every day for fun and profit, war and more thrills.  Why is the US suddenly unable to blow up a blow out?  Profits!  Profits of BP shareholders.  They are willing to sacrifice the fish, the worms, the plankton, the turtles and fish, everything for their unholy profit.

That is why capitalism really is no good and has to be replaced by a noncapitalist system of ownership and production that is friendly to our Common Mother, Earth.  We don't really need big oil if we switch to other forms of energy.  Big oil is trying to keep us dependent on oil and blocks alternative energy development.

NPR JUSTIFIES THE MASSACRE EXPOSED BY WIKILEAKS

I turned on the radio today, April 12, 2010, to hear NPR running a program about the merciless gunning down of civilians and journalists in Iraq, recently revealed by Wiki leaks   I have tried to post that video to this blog but I have noticed these videos often don't seem to work anymore.  Anyone who looks at that video, and it is available if you look for it, is going to be shocked.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rXPrfnU3G0

Here is a link.  A true patriot released this video and it is something the United States wants to hide at all costs, the truth about the illegal occupation of Iraq.  This is the daily work of our supposedly wonderful soldiers, not an exception.

Unarmed civilians are viewed at a distance so the United States forces are completely out of range of even imaginary weapons.  So a casual dialogue unfolds as one glorious soldier talks to another even more wonderful dude and then they shoot unarmed civilians, again and again, and again.

So these all American yahoos fire 30 caliber machine gun fire at pedestrians and then at a van trying to help the wounded.  The closed minded evil of the Americans is so clear.  This is evil and the justification of it is pure evil.  NPR is part of the military industrial media complex.  This is not a just war and any American who supports it is participating in evil as indeed I am, at least to some extent, for paying my taxes.

There is no justification for this massacre or the war.  For NPR to once again promote military gibberish about how this is all ok tells us what NPR is all about, justifying the rule of the few over the many whether the few are the citizens of one privileged nation like Israel or another privileged nation like the United States.  You have to massacre the many like they don't matter to achieve this and that is what NPR was justifying today.

The quotation by Orwell fits NPR to a tee, "Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable..."  NPR
does that better than anyone on behalf of Liberal reaction.

Crucially, the empty headed rhetoric about military service, military honor, and rules of engagement is at the heart of U. S. and in this particular case NPR's justification of massacres and mass murder.

It is incredible.  One fool after another calls in and confesses their war crimes.  I dropped napalm on a village to save my men one dude with a peculiar accent asserts.  This caller is saying that all the rules of engagement that the guest is talking about really don't apply even though the guest just justified the massacre of civilians in Iraq.   I brought my people home says.  It doesn't matter that the invasion of foreign lands was not justified in any way.

I am livid.  NPR, understanding supporter of the massacre of civilians and journalists.  Remember this next fund raiser.

Now, longtime imperialist stooge, Clarence Paige is telling us we didn't invade Iraq because of WMD's.

Perhaps with the economy tanking the NPR propagandists are vying with one another to keep their jobs.  To indicate their employability they must indicate their subservience to imperialist, Zionist, and capitalist ideology and power.  This is after a long dialogue with Neil Conan about how personable and "deep" the hard core racists in the United States are, also hiding behind the bull shit of military honor.

Liberal reaction. It sounds different than Conservative reaction but it serves the tiny and privileged elites making wars on the rest of us.  NPR.

NEIL CONAN AND HIS EXPERT ON IRANIAN BARBARIANS

Yesterday Neil Conan, the golden voiced lad at NPR, hosted some unremembered expert on the Iran who characterized the Iranians as something like barbarians.  I couldn't find the incriminating evidence as I looked for it today
on the NPR site but here is my criticism of the expert and Conan without any bibliography, eh?

The topic was the "terrible threat" of Iran, one of NPR's and the national security cult's favorite foci.  The terrible threat of Iran maybe having nuclear weapons was brought up again and again as a pretext for sanctions against Iran.  Yet there was obviously more than sanctions suggested by the discussion.  It was, in fact a disingenuous effort, as before with Iraq on NPR, to justify a chain of escalating attacks on Iran beginning with an intensification of the economic embargo the United States has tried to impose since it's favorite dictator was overthrown thirty years ago.  As with Iraq the end game is the destruction of another advanced nation with lots of oil in the ground.  NPR.

Of course there are defects in the Iranian ecclesiatical regime but that doesn't mean the United States has become a champion of human rights or of Iranian democracy.  Indeed, the so-called democracy in the United States is a complete mind numbing farce which has effectively left the American people even more impotent than the Iranian people who at least have the gumption to rebel against their government, something Americans will apparently never do in their own country!  Why are Americans such gutless wonders?  The two party farce is a great deal of the problem and NPR does its part to manipulate and control the population in close coordination with the VIP caste and National Security Coconspirators.

Conan went so far as to assert as a fact that Iran is a few years from developing a nuclear weapon.  This is the kind of thing NPR loyally reported when G. W. was spinning his lies about Iraqi WMDs with Tony Blair and Big Dick Cheney.  So much for objective fact based journalism.  NPR

At one point a caller suggested that the two gentlemen discuss the Israeli nuclear threat and the caller noticed that only in America could the so-called imagined and not real Iranian nuclear threat could be discussed without any reference whatsoever to the Israeli strategic arsenal.  The guest expert said he would in fact address the issue.  Would that be the first time on NPR the issue of Israeli nukes has been discussed?

Yet the barbarian expert and Conan simply defended Israel and with an obvious devotion to the Israeli state that may reveal what NPR is largely about.  It turns out Israel the invader of Lebanon, Egypt, Syria and conqueror of Palestine is a swell responsible country.  The Iranians are not responsible like the Israelis even though they invaded no one.

So the guest portraying the Iranians as barbarians pointed out that Israel is a "responsible" nuclear weapons holder so it is ok.  End of discussion.

Conan had to insert his own defense of the strategic nuclear power with the idea that Israel never signed a nuclear nonproliferation agreement as Iran had!  So, thinking like a damn lawyer, it is fine to go after Iran and ignore Israel.  Double standards everywhere, that is what lawyers and the defenders of elite privilege do best, justify and implement double standards.

So there never has been nor ever will be a program on NPR about the American or Israeli nuclear threat to others or even ourselves!  Yes, these are responsible nations and above scrutiny.  Iran on the other hand can be bashed, placed under siege and attacked for decades without so much as a smirk from Neil Conan or a slew of experts that love Israel even more than they love the United States.

So, according to NPR, it is ok to destroy the Iranian regime and maybe Iran as well for an imagined nuclear threat that doesn't even exist (or some other excuse) but the really existing strategic arsenal of Israel, at least three hundred nuclear weapons, is still not going to be discussed!  Thus we see the Israeli, United States and NPR consensus, Israeli nuclear weapons good,  US nuclear weapons good. Iranians nuclear program even without weapons bad!  I am surprised neither Conan nor his guest shouted out, "Ich liebe Israel!"  Double standards and the Israeli lobby all in one mellow package.

What percent of the NPR staff has Israeli citizenship in addition to their American citizenship?  How many are active in Zionist organizations?

GROSS TERRY AND HER NATIONAL SECURITY LAWYER EXPERT DECIDE TO LOCK DOWN THE INTERNET

Today the behavior of Gross Terry was truly reprehensible.  She had this expert jackass on who slowly spun a story of how we must lock down the internet even going so far as to suggest a license for anyone who wants to get on the internet.  It was very, very clever.  Lawyers are now supposed to help everyone, what a joke!, by regulating the internet!  Who needs these lawyers anyway, no one I know!

Lock down the internet so it can be just like cable tv, a stinking marketplace with nothing but deception, hustling and top down tyranny.  No wonder Gross Terry and the whole class of political parasites sucking on the neck of the empire love this idea!  Jobs for the fools that were on Wall Street.  Right Terri?

No passion for freedom in this country was noted in the NPR interview except the idiotic idea that we have a free country and don't need privacy!   Yes you need a degree in law or thirty years reporting lies and distortions to understand that one!  Only those foreign lands with terrible governments might need privacy the lawyerly jackass opined.  Terri couldn't agree quickly enough.

SAME INTERVIEW WITH BRILLIANT IMPERIALIST BLUNDER EXPERT, TERRI GOES MILITARY ADVISOR

Geez, Louise, I think I'll sneeze!  Terri the Gross seems to be trying to be a coconspirator in the military planning in Afghanistan!  What about this?  What about that!

There are so many opportunities for Terri to ask a question that leads in a progressive direction, but she never takes that opportunity.  {insert colonic emission sound}

A MICROANALYSIS OF IMPERIAL BLUNDERS

On January 27th this year of the empire 2010

Terri Gross, {whom I affectionately refer to as Gross Terri, with a sound of emitting flatulence immediately following} is hosting a brilliant expert on the blunders of the stinking empire in Iraq. (insert emission sound here)

It is so enlightening to listen as this clear thinking expert reviews the catastrophes wrought by the imperialist intervention in Iraq.  Let us never forget that NPR shamelessly promoted this war and defends it to this day.

Also, what about  NPR doing a microanalysis of the scoundrels screwing up this country too?  NPR has never done anything like look at who is behind socially engineered catastrophes in America.  Shameless and blind!

NPR MOVES FROM DENYING US AND UK INTERVENTION IN IRAN TO PROMOTING IT

We are talking with the dude who wants to openly support regime change in Iraq the NPR host should say.  But what about BBC and NPR, the semiofficial organs of the Anglo-American empire have to say about previously denying such intervention.

What is the real motive of this guest.  Is it to BUILD public opinion about American interference in Iran since it has already been going on?  Very probably.

Of course, Robert Kagan is now discussing American interference in the internal affairs of other nations as an accepted norm!  This man is a true servant of the empire!  {Reward him with Top Security clearances!  Now he can tell us there is a secret we don't know that means we have to accept his stupid violent message, support and pay for something that is obviously wrong, stupid and evil! Oops!  There I go again!}

Then what about Kagan's  horrible concern that an Israeli attack would be be wrong only because it is unlikely to be a success! This guy is a partisan and a representative of imperialist and  the US Zionist polity. NPR promotes this kind of reactionary rubbish all the time.  It is the semi-official organ of US government-think and the US based Zionist consensus.

It is almost hilarious how the nuclear weapon issue weaves in and out of this sales pitch for imperialist intervention.  It obviously has little or nothing to do with it.

NPR PROMOTES AGGRESSION AGAINST IRAN

I hate having to do this but now NPR has some guy one who is probably a lifelong Zionist, member of the JDL or a  National Security Insider.  Pandering to the national whims of Israel, no other nation is treated like this on NPR, NPR is promoting war even as this guest says he is not.

NPR really sucks!  Shameless militarism with a soft touch.

I am so touched that the stinking NPR host suggests a "coalition of the willing" to attack Iran!  Incredible.  What an orifice of the Pentagon!  Even the guest backs off from that suggestion, after all, even if that is the logical next step for imperialism we are not supposed to say it so plainly yet.

It is sabre rattling as one caller suggests.  NPR rattling the sabre again.  It really stinks.
He exposed them so well!  Of course the clueless NPR imperialists are happy to remind the caller, don't see what is right in front of you.

TIRED OF THE TEMPLE GRANDIN "EAT MEAT" CAMPAIGN

Temple Grandin is an amazing person and she has a lot to teach us about whaever was and remains wrong with her, if anything.  Yet the whole thing ends up at the slaughterhouse and her life story ends up being a very sophisticated version of the phrase you see on billboards in farming country,
"BEEF. IT'S WHAT'S FOR DINNER".

I write this as one of the more beef dependent people on earth, at least until a few years ago.

The billboards are usually not very high tech and the message is blunt, honest and straightforward.  Grandin, on the other hand, almost makes the slaughter of cattle into a sacred rite.

Why has NPR never asked her or any other guest what they are being paid per year and over decades by the industries and financial interests they represent?  Why, never?

Isn't it obvious.  NPR, the soft sell panderers to this or that industry but never the working people of the United States or any other nation unless... but that is for a later entry.

THE IPOD CASTE

Listening to NPR today I am both grateful and critical.  After all NPR is designed for the caste of Americans who are either somewhat educated or simply concerned about the real world.  Most of the other radio programs appeal more blatantly to commercial interest and any real news is rare.  Indeed the AM conservatives have established a parallel universe where facts seem to
be at a distinct disadvantage over rampaging delusions.

On the other hand APPLE is just another corporation trying to make a buck.  Why should that matter to NPR audiences?  Because they are the ipod people, the remnants of society who can afford to pay for everything, every song and if APPLE has its way you will be paying for that song until you die.

APPLE and others hope to charge you for reading in the future and they hope to make their new tablet device will not only burn a hole in your pocket but will capture your eyeballs for an endless onslaught of commercial messages.

Of course here is no discussion of the details about how  APPLE will take you to the laundry but if you are really a middle class person I guess you don't care if you spend a hundred bucks on tunes.

What about the rest of the United States and the world.  Whatever happened to the 100 dollar laptop, freeware and open source.  You don't hear about that on NPR which is just as much a captive of private wealth as the commercial stations.

How clueless is the ipod caste?  Are their spaced out kids going to have any understanding of anything are they just being
"good kids", hoping they two can be middle class and clueless forever.

Yet that is the way NPR is, clueless about class, caste, oppressions or the struggles against them.  They're really good at quoting the captalists little bellweathers like the DOW and NASDAQ.

Oh, wonderful, a middle class miracle, Temple Grandin.  They are channeling her now.  See ya!

THE HOLOCAUST, GAZA AND NPR

Today we had another NPR story about the Jewish holocaust.  It was really about the current Pope trying to deify another Pope, or whatever they call it, it is a form of quasi deification.  So Pope Benedict the whatever wants to do something to celebrate Hitler's Pope, Pope Pius the Last One.

The  Pope to be deified apparently was a bit of a Nazi collaborator.  Of course the current Pope was a member of the Hitler Youth, which, of course, couldn't have anything to do with his desire to deify Hitler's Pope.  It was a reasonable story in and of itself but why do we hear so much about the Jewish Holocaust seventy years ago and so little about the ongoing holocaust in Israel as Israel imprisons, shoots, bombs and starves the Palestinians?

As Hitlerphiles and contributors to the Holocaust these Popes are not really so holy to anyone with a brain.  They both seem to have had something to do with it and this Benedict, well he is ready to forgive himself and the other Pope and to imagine that God is on his side, like all the other religious deviants.

At one point the NPR reader said something about how Jewish people have criticized the Pope.  It was said as if the opinions of Jews matter.  I think they do but, I wish the NPR staff would say such things about say, the Palestinian people when representing their opinions, as if the Palestinians mattered.

Didn't hear anything about GAZA today on NPR.  Indeed, I hardly ever do.  Of course the tables are now changed and now, as I write the Palestinians have been held in concentration camp like conditions in Gaza the West Bank and in refugee camps.  The Palestinians are being killed and enslaved now.  How can this be less newsworthy than the death of folks seventy years ago.  The obvious answer is that it isn't.

This time Jews and Israelis rather than Christians and Germans are the bad guys.  Is that why NPR can't cover or criticize Israel appropriately.  Somehow, NPR never thinks that this ongoing tragedy imposed by the Jewish State seems to be as newsworthy as the Holocaust and those who collaborated with them and indeed were them.

Go figure.  National Holocaust Radio?  Does such an Israelcentric perspective really serve the interests of justice?  I don't think so.

NPR has had little or nothing to say about the Goldstone Report.  Nor have we heard about the charges being filed against Israeli leaders in different venues around the world.  All the Palestine solidarity efforts, big news throughout the rest of the world, has been completely whited out in favor of human interest stories about the hardships of Israelis, one of the most privileged populations on Earth.

Of course this is all U.S. government policy and NPR has always been in bed with our government, uncritical from the start, when it passively watched Nixon arrest thousands of antiwar demonstrators, to today as it acts as the mouthpiece of the State Department and the Zionist lobby.

The Israelis and Egyptians get to read about all these issues and hear about it on the radio and watch it on TV but the American people are not allowed to see what NPR doesn't consider as important as something that happened seventy years ago.

THE UNITES STATES IS HELPING AMERICAN CITIZENS, NOT HAITIANS

I keep on hearing about the gratitude to the undistributed aide that has been in Haiti for days but remains under American control, undistributed to the starving millions.

The real story is that the United States and all the first world "helpers" are helping the Haitian ruling class and evacuating first worlders as the millions remain unattended, and without any rights or even the necessities of life.  Business as usual in the capitalist hell of Haiti.

IRA PLAYDOUGH LIKES HIGH TECH, HISTORY AND GEE WHIZ SCIENCE

I want to express a partial gratitude to Ira Flatow and NPR for having any sort of science programming and, once again, you don't see this sort of programming on the radio anywhere else.

I learn a lot from the program but I have noticed in focuses a lot on technology and often Ira seems to have a lack of interest in the actual science of the technology.  Fortunately he is not as much into "dumbing down" the science as he was a couple decades ago.  Like some other popularizers of
science he started out a little like a clownish buffoon and almost seemed apologetic for talking about science.  Now he is much better.

Still, I notice in his discussion of lasers today he seemed to get bored with the actual discussion of some science when speaking to one of the creators of the laser.  I think they just confused two completely different phenomena with lasers and the way the light looks spotty.  Ira was probably talking about one thing and the scientist was talking about the floaters in the eye.  Am I wrong?  Ira was unable to tease this out even though he may be right about what he was saying, that only some cones are activated leaving the others somehow transmitting spots.  Of course it may have another explanation or not.

Ira could have gone into how a laser actually works, how atoms emit the light in quanta of different frequencies as electrons go from one energy state to a lower one.  He keeps it too simple and fails to explore even the basic science that he could otherwise address.

I was glad to hear from the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists too.  I think Ira could have been a little more skeptical about moving the clock back sixty seconds.  That seems like wishful thinking.  His guest seemed to realize that Obama may be just talking about getting rid of nuclear weapons, if you don't have them yet!  Obama has never confronted any nuclear weapon holder with a demand for reduction, certainly Israel remains under his protection in terms of even recognizing they have nukes.

HOW NPR SERVES THE RULING CLASS AND PROMOTES CONSERVATISM

I have not done much on this blog but that is not because it isn't important.  After all, NPR, like the BBC provides a steady supply of news, most of which is related to really existing events.  The mass media outside the realm public broadcasting is, on the other hand, focused on selling things, making money and of course the conservative press often manufactures big lies and conservative delusions which are reported as news.

So, again, there are some new organizations that actually report a lot of the news but most of the so-called news is schlock and pandering to popular prejudices and defending the old cracker capitalist order.
I am something of an NPR addict but that doesn't mean they are above scrutiny or that
NPR is progressive in terms of any liberation
framework.

NPR serves the ideological function of providing a LIBERAL perspective.  It is a liberalism that endorses and supports the power of the ruling elites and never questions their rule.  Socialism and communism have no
place on NPR.  Indeed, NPR, is one of the few organizations remaining that is capable of painting a more-or-less consistent mythology about free enterprise, American so-called democracy and so on and so forth.

This LIBERALISM is not progressive and it is not liberating.  NPR LIBERALISM is obviously in the mainstream of imperialist and anti-working class ideology.  NPR expresses concerns about the starving survivors in Port au Prince finding something to eat in the rubble.  Why?  Private property!

The stores are collapsed, the foodstuffs are in the rubble but NPR wants to keep the capitalist order rather than let the starving eat.  NPR also is very delicate in wondering why the thousands of tons of supplies in Port au Prince are not being distributed.

NPR also sets the limits for what is regarded as legitimate "leftism" such as making Obama's almost insignificant tax on financial insititutions, almost a rounding error says Robert Reich, into a big deal.  NPR and Obama are really on the same frequency which explains why Obama is a conservative in everything but certain gender related issues.

Yet a tiny chance like this that is really no change of substance is, for NPR, the far left of legitimate political debate and discussion.
NPR has also done its best, since Obama's
election, to restore the order of the confused
conservative camp.  As the Republicans and conservatives have fumbled, become disunited and disoriented NPR has again and again put their spokespeople forward, providing something of a basis for the reorganization of the more brutal and more ignorant followers of Conservatism and the Republicans.

Indeed, MSNBC, has, for the time being, some commentators and programming that is significantly more LIBERAL than NPR.  NPR has never scrutinized or criticized right wingers in the Republican Party.  MSNBC has.

The NPR reporting on Haiti has been better than most of the so-called news media.  Yet I just heard an atrocious discussion of Haiti during this earthquake crisis.  NPR misrepresented the recent and ancient history of Haiti-US relations.

The NPR woman commentator claims the United States policy towards Haiti has been inconsistent and mentioned the "restoration" of Aristide by Clinton.  This is the first time I have heard the name Aristide in the American press since the earthquake.  Yet it is widely known that Clinton's manuever was more of an effort keep Aristide out of Haiti, allow him a very short portion of his term in office but with the provisio that he would not run for the Presidency again.

Bush on the other hand was represented as not doing anything about the subsequent coup against Aristide.  But this is a complete falsification of history.  It was the Bush administration that kidnapped Aristide, and took him to Africa.  Aristide was not sidelined by the Clinton maneuver so Bush carried out the coup.  NPR paints a picture where the United States is on the sidelines rather than the executioner of the coup.

Bush should be prosecuted for overthrowing the democratically elected President of Haiti.  NPR would never express such a view or allow such a view in its programming.

NPR reports that on the third day after the quake that the United States is not distributing the supplies it has piled up in Port au Prince.  Why?  Is it US imperialism again?
Probably, but we will never hear about it from NPR.
